Alice Harvey Is July Bride
In SF Home of Aunt and Uncle
SUMMER LAKE At the San Francisco home of her
uncle and aunt, Lt. Colonel and Mrs. Zed C. Harris, Alice
Harvey became the bride of John Robert Wedum, July 25,
in a double-ring ceremony at two o'clock in the afternoon.
Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Harvey,
Summer Lake, and is a graduate of Oregon State College.
Wedum, a native of Montana, is a graduate of the University
of Montana, and is presently a fighter pilot in the USAF.

ding, the bride wore a beauti'
fill ballerina-length dusty-rose
lace dress, rhmestone stud
ded, and a headpiece of white
carnations framed her face.
Col. and Mrs. Hnrris were the
only attendants; and Mrs. Harris
wore a dress of blue taffeta, simi
lar to the bride's, complemented
wilh an orchid shoulder corsage.
Another uncle and aunt of the
bride, Mr. arid Mrs. Wade Hal
lock, were suests with Mr. and
Mrs. Darrell Hnllock, Ethel Hal
lock and June Sundcn, cousin.'! of
the bride all from Castro Valley,
California.
Colonel and Mis. Hnrris were
hosts at the rcceplion which fol
lowed the ceremony.

Clubhouse Saturday evening, July

FORT KLAMATH A delight
ful summer afternoon was spent
Wednesday, July 28, at 1:30 p.m.,
when Mrs. Frank Hale (nee Janice
Kendall) was honored with a lay
ette shower in the C.I. Clubhouse,
with the following acting as hos
tesses for the occasion: Mrs. Wes
ton Entile, Mrs. Earl M, Jackson,
Mrs, Wesley J. Smith, Mrs. Jess
RlKhtmler. Gladys Kendall and
Patricia Louise Hescock.
The expected "blessed event"
was the following Sunday, AurusI
1, whm the young Hales welcomed
their first child, a son. Dennis
Lcnnal, at 1 the Klamath Valley
Hospital.
For the shower, the club room
was lovely with arrangements of
delphinium, petunias and tiger 111
lies. Shades of pink, yellow, blue
and white were featured in all
decorations and table appoint
ments. The lace covered gift table was
piled high with many beautifully
wrapped gifts. Assisting Mrs, Hale
In opening them was her mother,
Mrs. Frank Kendall. Mrs. Weston
Engle recorded the gift list.
The enjoyable afternoon was ,
brought to a close when refresh-1
ments were served by the hos

nuptial vows with Lyle W. Shaffer in The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints in a candlelight service at 2:30
p.m.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Tawney; bride
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George M. Shaffer Sr., and
the senior Shaffer officiated at the ceremony. Other pictures
are of the bride with her attendants while the blue garter is
being placed; and the other is of the couple and their wedding

The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Saints was the setting for
the July wedding of Shirley Lee
Tawney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
L. R. Tawney, 2222 Applegate, to
Lyle W. Shaffer, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George M. Shaffer Sr., 1632
Manzanita.
The bridegroom's father was of
ficiant at the 2:30 p.m. double-ring
candlelight - ceremony before a
background of coral and white
gladioli banked with fern.
Soloist. LaMar Jensen, was ac
companied bv organist. Mrs.
George M. Shaffer. Jr., sister-in-law
of the bridegroom.
The bride, who was given in mar
riage by her father, wore a door
length gown of nylon tulle over
white satin; made with a long
sleeved Chantilly lace vee-necked
bodice. A seed-pearl encrusted cap
held her fingertip veil; and she
carried a crescent shaped bouquet
of red roses with white stephanotis.
Maid of honor, Myiie Theroux,
wore a light blue gown of nylon
tulle over taffeta; and carried a
basket arrangement of pom
pon chrysanthemums. Bridesmaids
Sonja Carlson and Kay Jensen,
wore mauve and green frocks re
spectively; replicas of the maid of
honor's; and they carried the same
floral arrangements.
Flower girl was Sherry Tawney,
sister of the bride; Lynn Shaffer
attended his brother as best man;
and twin brothers, Gary and Larry
Phair, served as candlelighters and
ushers.
Mrs. Tawney wore a yellow linen
ensemble to her daughter's wed
ding, complemented with white ac
cessories and a red rosebud cor
sage. The senior Mrs. Shaffer
chose a blue and white print with
white accessories and a pink rose
bud corsage.
Acting hostesses at the recep
tion in the church recreation hall,
were, Mrs. Gordon Hicks, Mrs.
Gale King and Mrs. C. T. Johnston.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Shaffer
are now at home, 2209 Applegate
Avenue; .after a honeymoon trip
through Nevada, Idaho and Utah,
with major stop in Salt Lake City.
