Rummage Sale this Saturday
July 31, beginning at 7 a.m. in the
Sacred Heart Parish Hall, Eighth
and High, will feature cots, mat
tresses, pillows, bedding miscellan
eous articles and-clothing. The sale
is being sponsored by the Sisters
of St. Francis.
Summer Institute Kenneth C.
Ross, executive secretary says the
Oregon Tuberculosis and Health
Association will hold its 1954 Sum'
mer Institute at southern Oregon
College, Ashland, during the sec
ond week in August. .
New Buildings Two proposed
buildings at Southern Oregon Col
lege, Ashland, include the physical
education and health building and
the central heating plant. Total
cost is estimated at $715,000. Pro-
posals will go to the 1965 legisla
ture action.
Open House is to be held fit
the Youth Activity Center on the
Southern Oregon College campus
on Sunday, August 1, from noon
to 2:30 p.m., under, the sponsor
ship of the Wesley Foundation. The
center is located at 568 Roca
Street, above the college. The cen
ter has been rehabilitated by work
parties from the Methodist Church,
Director Anne Mellis said.

Portland The Pacific Interna
tional Livestock Exposition returns
this year to the 11-acre p-l plant
in North Portland, vacated re
cently by the U. S. Air Force.
There will be no horse show or
arena attractions because of the
condition of the grandstand. No
crowds will be permitted in the
stands but all other portions of
the building will operate as usual.
Dates are October 19 through Oc
tober 23.
