GOP Plans California State Tour
Attention of local Republican
women is brought to the proposed
pre-convention tour preceding the
1054 biennial convention of the Na
tional Federation of Republican
Women to be held in Los Angeles
In September.
Plans for the extensive tour,
open to all Interested women are
being made by the California federation.
County Agent
Issues Reminder
A reminder to farmers that ap
plications for certification of po
tato, grain, grass and legume seed
crops are being filed at the Klam
ath County Agent's office cow was
Issued today.
A 1 1 certification applications
should be filed by July 20, accord
ing to Extension Agent Walt Jen
drzejewski. It Is expected that
field inspections will start at that
time.
The four-day tour will start In
San Francisco Sunday, September
19, with a sightseeing tour of that
city. The rest of the itenerary In
cludes an early start by bus on
Monday, September 20, across the
Bay Bridge and down the San
Joaquin Valley and then Into the
Yosemite Valley National Park for
the night at the Ahwahee Hotel.
There will be an overnight stop In
Monterey on September 21 and the
next morning early risers will
leave for the last lap tour through
some of California's most spectac
ular scenery, arriving In Los An
geles in time for dinner.
The total cost per person is

Primary Today
RICHMOND, Va. 11 Democrats
In two of Virginia's 10 congression
al districts vote In primaries to
day to choose nominees they hope
can unseat Republican represent
atives who gained office In 1052.
In the 6th District, three candi
dates are In the field for the nom
ination to oppose Rep. Richard
Poff, one of three Republicans
elected to Congress In the Eisen
hower sweep of normally Demo
cratic Virginia two years ago.
The three are Ernest Robertson
of Roanoke County, a member of
the Virginia House of Delegates;
Powell Glass Jr., Lynchburg news
paper publisher; and Dr. J. Carl
Poindexter of Salem.
In the loth located In the north
ern Virginia area adjacent to
Washington four candidates are
vying for the right to do battle
with Rep. Joel Broyhlll In Novem
ber. They are Delegate John C,
Webb, Fairfax; J. Walter White,
Fairfax; Charles Lewis Knight,
Arlington; and Dean E. Brundage,
Arlington. Webb, White and Knight
are lawyers. Brundage Is director
of social studies at Washington-Lee
High School.
