that George Osborne, former resi
dent of Klamath Falls, now living
at Vlda, Oregon near Eugene is in
Sacred Heart Hospital, Eugene.
Osborne, associated with the Shell
Oil Company for many years has
been in ill health for several
months.
Ill Grafton Holden, Macdoel,
has been taken to the Siskiyou
General Hospital at Yreka for ob
servation. Higher Rating Mrs. Vida Gil
mer, postmaster at the Macdoel
postoffice has been advised by the
U.S. Postal Department that the
office she serves was advanced
from fourth to a third class office
as of July 1. Mrs. Gilmer has been
in charge of the office for many
years. She recently attended a
meeting of postmasters at Bedford
on the Feather River in calltornia.

Building Work has been start
ed on the foundation for a new
church building on Commercial
Street for the Gospel Mission of
the United Holy Church of Amer
ica. The building formerly occu
pied for services was crushed by
the weight of snow two years ago.

Lifelong KF Resident Dies
A resident of Klamath Falls for
65 years, Thomas Alfred Vainer,
died early today at Hillside Hos
pital where he was taken for med
ical treatment three days ago. He
was 66 years old.
Mr. Varner was "born in Modoc
County, California and came here
at the age of one year. His parents
settled on land southeast of Klam
ath Palls. The old ranch home
where they lived was located
where Idella's store now stands.
Following his father's death, Mr.
Vainer with two brothers, Samuel,
now living in Grants Pass, and
John, who died several years ago,
farmed the land until encroach
ment of business and population
forced sale of the farm. He then
worked tor the Pelican Bay Lum
ber Company.
He never married and has made
his home in recent years at 515
South 4th Street.
Surviving in addition to his bro
ther Samuel, are several nieces
and nephews. Two nieces, Mrs.
Carrie Shulmiro and Mrs Myrtle
Fogle live here. -
Funeral services will be an
nounced later by Ward's Klametta
Funeral Home.
