going recruit training at the Ma
rine Corps Recruit Depot, San

last for ten weeka at which time

before reporting to their next duty
station.

record month for enlistments from
the Klamath Basin for the Marines
In as much as 33 men were en
listed. This figure Includes 20 men
enlisted from Klsmath Falls, 1
from Bonanza and 1 from Okla
homa City. Oklahoma. Six more
enlistments were still pending but
were not effected during the month
of June.

Parade Float
A miniature diesel electric train
will be featured on the Southern
Pacific float In the Roundup Pa
rade. The train, which will accommo
date adults or children, runs on
a circular track about 100 feet
around. It has a real whistle and
about seven cars, and Is patterned
after a full size S.P. freight train.
The miniature was built for
Beverly Stone by her father, A. L.
Stone. 133 Hillside Avenue, Klam
ath Palls. It was used in the
Dunsmulr Railroad Days parade
and In other central California cel
ebrations. In Uie local parade, the tram
will be used as part of a float rep
resenting Klamath Palls Industries.
Immediately following the parade,
the train will be on display at the
Southern . Pacific Passenger Sta
tion, according to an announce
ment from' the Brotherhood of
Railway Clerks. The public Is in
vited to see the train in the parade,
and to view It at closer range at
the passenger station. -
