is "not slowing down the least
bit" in plans for constructing a
pipeline to the Northwest.
He said the firm is going ahead
as if the Westcoast Transmission
Co., Inc.. had made no gestures
to question the Federal Power
Commission's authorization of the
contract
"We think It's such a clear cut
decision that we're going on with
engineering, financing and con
trading." Williams said. He add
ed that he expected no delay from
toe FPC "on such a clear cut
order as they wrote."
"We're betting our money there
will be no delay," he said.
Preliminary survey work, Wil
liams emphasized, will begin in
September as originally planned.

nearly 42.000 home loan applica
tions for guaranty during May, an
Increase of 23 per cent over April
and a 13 per cent increase over
May, 1953, VA announced today.
VA said that the spurt In apprai
sal activity since last February Is
Just beginning to be felt in the rate
of home loan applications.

to VA continued to spiral In May
lor the fourth straight month. Dur
ing the month. VA received appral
sal requests for 89,134 dwelling
units, of which 53.243 were for pro

in April and 90 per cent higher than
the number of appraisal requests
la May, 1953.
VA also reported that the terms
on which lenders will grant loans
to veterans are easing. A survey of
VA guaranteed loans closed In
May, 1954 shows that nearly 35
per cent of all GI home loans were
made without a down payment.
The same survey disclosed that
CI per cent of the loans were writ
ten with 25 to 30 year terms.
