at that time, so John "recruited"
his sister Carrie, mother and fath

definite need for more volunteers,

Here's the dairy dish for this
week, creamy baked custard: Take
4 or eggs, cup sugar, 'i tea
spoon salt, one quart milk
(scaldcdi. one teaspoon vanilla,
and a dash of nutmeg.
Use four eggs for making In
dividual custards and six eggs
for large custard. ' Beat eggs
slightly, add sugar and salt and
mix well. Add scalded milk grad
ually, stirring constantly. Flavor
with vanilla and sprinkle with nut
meg, If desired.
Butter six to eight custard cups
or lt-quarl baking dish and pour
In custard mixture. Place in shal
low pan of warm water and bake
In moderate oven, 350 degrees,
3S to 40 minutes 'tor Individual
canards or 60 to 65 minutes for
large custard.
