Teaching hat been her life work. She graduetod from New York College Academy in Ne
bratka, the daughter of a minister , . , later when her father's call to the West Coast came,
and the family arrived in Oregon, he became president of Philomath College. Helen Epley Hoff
man studied there, than was graduated from tha University of Oregon where the prepared for
her life career in education.
She took time out to raise two torn and a daughter, Malvern Alcorn, Prineville, William Al
corn, Newport, and a teacher-daughter, Mn. Robert (Jeanettel Balch, now living in Rupert,
Idaho where the putt fourth gradert through thair pacet.
Helen Epley Hoffman, givet unttintingly of her time and pen to "all who need a phrase

has a husband Aaron, with the U. S. Forestry Service, who is her right, hand man when she
gets tied in a knot" with Latin Club activities, and she hopes that when the time comes to

Civics Club wishes to tell you
about some of the recreational fa

ious paras. Perhaps you will be
mi prised to find out. how many
there really are. There Is
Veteran's Memorlsl Park, which
la located on the left side of Main
near the Link River Bridge;
Moore Psrk, off Lakeshore Drive;
Klwanls Park In Mills Addition on
Applegste Street; Roosevelt Park,
on Esplanade and Eldorsdo;
Hlukel Psrk on Home Btreel and
Mnrlln; Maple Park which Ik
across the Link River Bridge;
Purview Park on Wordcn and
Addison and Pelican Park.
In the summer arts and crafts
are taught In these parka. Many
gomes are played such as Jump
rope, horseshoes, ping-pong, ten
nis, volley ball, hopscotch and
also dunclng.
There Is yet another park which
I believe should be mentioned and
that Is Wlsrd Park. This park l
located on Wlard Street, but Is not
operated by the Klamath Falls
Recreation Department. Mr; Wlsrd
makes most of the play equip
ment himself out of scrsp ma
terials. In recent yeara Softball haa cap
tured the Interest of many, both
young and old. To satisfy these
Interests various leaguea have been
formed among men. women and
children. Some of the children's
lesgues are the Midgets, the Ban
lams, the Peewees.

thusiasts Ihls yesr Is the new
Klamath Municipal Pool which as
most of you know waa opened to
the general public Saturday. May
