Lillard
Cancels
Wrestling
Because of the lack of top named
wrestlers in this section of the
state, promoter Mack Lillard has
called off the Armory wrestling
matches for the next two weeks.
Lillard explained that he would
rather pass up a couple of week's
wrestling cards than bring Just fair
wrestlers into the local wrestling
arena.
Another reason that is liguring
into the slack oit of the grapplers,
is that the Klamath Falls boxing
and wrestling commission, and Lil
lard are making plans for the big
boxing match that will be featured
in the Armory ring May 7.
San Francisco's pride and joy.
Big Andy Walker, will come to
Klamatb'to meet Portland's Jarrin
Jim Byrne.
Byrne has fought in the local ring
twice before and has collected two
quick knockouts, much to his dis
pleasure. The Portland heavyweight want
ed to make a hit with the local fans
but alter he exploded some oi nis
power filled punches, his opponents
weren't around very long.
This' fight was originally slated
for Portland, but because of per
sonal and promotional problems
Tex Salkeld, Portland promoter,
had to pass up the outstanding
fight. .
Word from sources in Portland
indicated that this : light would
mean a feather in the cap of Lil
lard tor bringing such an outstand
ing fighter, as Walker, into Klam
ath Falls.
.Tickets for the big heavyweight
battle can be picked up in advance
at Dick Reeder's Store for Men
anytime before the match.

Whenever possible. I go out
to lei I field and field the balls
off the bat. I think this is much
more advantageous than chasing
fungoes. I learn to play the ball
as it dips, curies and takes off.
To me. being in the major
leagues is "really living." They
say "it is great to be a Yankee,"
but I also say it is great to be a
Redleg. When Cincinnati purchased
me from the Yankee "organization
it was one of the best breaks of
my life. I might not have received
the opportunity with all the good
outfielders the Yankees had at
that time.
It's been a long trail for me
to come up here. Wing Wtldrlck. a
