The Midland Home Extension
Unit held the last meeting of the
year at Joan's Kitchen, April 8 at
10:30 a.m. With heads wrapped in
towels, and faces well smeared
with cleansing cream, lots of
laughter and comment on how
each one looked, was Indulged In
by 16 members and two guests
present. During the morning ses
slon members prepared the cleans
ing cream and freshener led by
Mrs. Audrey Ager as Mrs. George
Overmire talked on "Home. Care cf
the Skin." The cream made by
uie members has all the basic in
gredients used in cosmetics.
A delicious luncheon was served
by Mrs. August Andrleu, Mrs. Joe
Horsley. Mrs. Jack Lund and Mrs.
I. T. Merkey.
The business meeting was
opened with a letter read by
Mrs. Joe Horsley from Dolores
Bracken asking for two mem
bers to be present for the SDaclne
of exhibits at the spring festival.
Mrs. Leon Andrieu and Mrs. Nor
man Rlsley will attend this meet
ing. The new plastic tablecloth pur
chased by Mrs. Audrey Aner
was used for the first time.
Mrs. Stanley Rayson turned In
her report on "Pennies for Friend
ship" as the ACWW chairman.
A health report was made out
for Mrs. Wilson Phipps.

Its last meeting for this term

economics room.
New officers elected to start
their terms in September are:
chairman, Mrs. Gladys Halousek;
vice chairman, Mrs. Rosella Mar
tin and secretary treasurer, Mrs.
Elsie Mock. All dew unit officers
will be installed at the Home
Falls, May 4.
Dolores Bracken, County Home
Extension Agent, was Jn charge of
the project "Better storage in our
Homes." She showed many illus
trations of modern design closets
and cupboards and gave helpful
suggestions lor utilizing wasted
space. One way of getting added
space lor storage which she sug
gested, was to have the fam
ily sort out and throw away all
unused and unecessary items.
Each member went home with
good intentions for Improving stor
age space.
President Mrs. Mildred Rajnus,
announced that the Homemakers
Festival would be held this year on
May 4 at the fairgrounds. Tickets
lor the luncheon are now on sale
and should be purchased from
Mrs. Rajnus or the secretary, Mrs.
Betty Byrne before April 20. Ma
lta's part in the festival will be a
display with the Bonanza Unit on
"Better Storage In the Home."

of the H-bomb era will be observed
around the world? tomorrow with
prayers for peace and salvation.
Rejoicing that Christ Is risen
mingles with fears that man has
fashioned a weapon that could
doom civilization.
The hope of men, women and
children at Eastertide was that
the occasion never would arise to
unleash the bomb's fury.
President Eisenhower, on whose
shoulders rests much of the free
world's burden of preventing war,
will attend services at Augusta,
Ga.
In Rome, Pope Pius XII will
appear on the loggia of St. Peter's
basilica, to impart benediction to
the world.
The Christian feast of Easter,
by unusual coincidence, comes this
year on the same day as the Jew
ish feast of Passover, which com
memorates the flight of the Israel
ites from Egypt.
Dr. Israel Goldstein, president
of the American Jewish Congress,
said In a Passover messase thtt
the feast, to Jews, "is a 5,000-year-old
rite commemorating the brave
free spirit which dominates their
lives and thinking."

church bells will call worshipers
to service as usual on Easter in

Minden, Neb., known as the
"Christmas City"' becauso of Its
briUiant lighting at Yuletlde, is
branching out this year with an
Easier lighting display expected to
rival the Christmas show.
In Washington, three military
sunrise services are scheduled
by the Army, in gardens at the
Walter Reed Medical Center; by
the Navy, on grounds of the Navul
Medical Center; and by the Air
Force, at Boiling Field.

a.m. aboard the ancient frigate
Constitution.
A half hour earlier, non-denominational
services will be held at
the Cathedral of the Pines, Ridge,
N.Hi, on a knoll cleared of giant
pines by the 1938 hurricane.
