A TWISTED MASS OF STEEL resulted early Wednesday rrvorning when this northbound Con
solidated Freightway's truck and trailer collided with a southbound Converse truck on the
overpass north of Midland on Highway 97. Driver of the truck was hospitalized with a com
pound fracture of the leg, cuts' and bruises. Trailer in the background broke loose from the
truck and turned over on its side blocking traffic for several hours.

Aid Handicapped Children

summer institute for parents of
pre-school visually handicapped
children, to be held in June on
the campus of the state school fur
the blind at Salem. Dates of the
school are from June 4 to June 11
Inclusive.
The project, first adopted In 1949
has developed rapidly. The first
year, 27 families were present.
Last year there were 52 families
from 20 Oregon counties.
The auxiliary finances the at'
tendance of parents of pre-school
blind children at a school on the
campus, designed to teach them
to accept the handicap of blind
ness in their children and how to
work with the developing of lit'

A union Good Friday service of
worship and meditatren will be
held at the Klamath Temple Fri
day, April 16, from 1 to 3:20 p.m.
"The words from the Cross" will
constitute the theme of the service
with nine of the Klamath Falls
churches participating.

Nabokowski Death
Learned Here
Word was received here todav of
(he death last Saturday in Coltacr
Grove of a former Klamath Falls
resident. Charles Nnbakowski, 64.
Mr. wabakowskl lived in this
area from 1925 until four years
ago. He was employed lor many
years at the Algonia mill.
He is survived by three dauchtcrs
in Klamath Falls, Mrs. Bernard
Valk. Mrs. Walt Ambers and Mrs.
Chet Bunnel, and another daughter.
Mrs. joe Bougnton of Corbcll. Cal
ifornia. A son, Donald, is also a
resident of this city. .

dations during the institute are
paid by a fund developed by the
auxiliaries throughout the state.
Only transportation Is paid by the
parents, and in cases of rllstrpw
travel charges are also taken cure
of.
Auxiliary members gather on
the campus to care for babies of
parents, who have visually handi
capped children.
Particular emphasis is placed on
the lack of understanding and the'
need to teach self sufficiency with
out pity.
There are only 10 schools in the
U.S. for visually handicapped chil
dren and one ,on the Pacific Coast.
In 1953, 47 mothers, 30 fathers,
four grandmothers and 70 children
were on the campus for the insti
tute. Mrs. Clarence Humble, Klamath
Falls, Oregon State Lions auxil

Dr. and Mrs. Walter Dry, in
charge of the state school for the
blind, gave a financial report of the
school during the afternoon meet
ing. There was also discussion of
measures to be voted on at the
state convention to be held In
Coos Bay in June,
