Corps Recruiter In Klamath Falls
said the following facts should help
clarify the meaning of these
laws. I
According to the Selective Serv

becomes available for . military
service after he reaches his 19th
birthday and must register with
nis local draft board within five
days following that birthday.

deferred for specific reasons by
the local draft board, must serve
on active duty for a period of at
least two years.
The total service required of
each youth Is eight years, which
may be partially (unfilled on active
with the remainder in a ready or
standby reserve status.
A man being transferred from
active duty to the ready reserve
may be recalled to active duty, In
the event of national emergency
as proclaimed by the President.
However the standby reserve will
be called only in the event of na
tional emergency or an all-out war
declared by Congress. I
SSgt. Allen states that among
the advantages of enlisting in
regular componate of the Armed
