Hospital this morning for an ap
pendectomy. Henley Grange will meet
Wednesday evening, April 7, at the
Henley Grange Hall. Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh G. Simpson are lecturers
and Jim O'Donahue is master of
the grange. A special program
has been arranged.

New Manager C. E. Nelson,
well-known In retail lumber circles
of the Klamath Basin, Is now as
sociated with the Basin Blinding
Material, Company, Malm, aa mali
nger. He succeeds Dan Gregg,
who is still with the company in
a selling capacity; Nelson was
manager of the Tulelake yard of
the Long-Bell Company for some
time.
Teachinr Here Dr. Elmo Stev
enson, president of Southern Ore
gon College, Ashland has been
teaching a class In geology at
Tulelake, for several weeks. Dr.
Stevenson narrowly missed serious
injury when returning to Ashland
recently when his car overturned
into water near the highway on
the cutoff to Dorrts.
Away Mrs. Sally Larson, Tule
lake, seriously Injured last Octo
ber in an automobile wreck, has
gone to Stanford Lane Hospital,
San Francisco, for treatment on
an injured leg and foot. She was
companied by her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Harold McKee. Mrs.
Larson made the trip by ambu
lance.

tor of the Herald and News, re
placing Horace (Red) Hurd, who
resigned Saturday to take a job
in Portland.
Gone Mr. and Mrs. Walter J.
Kerrigan, Ashland, who spent sev
eral days here on business, left
over the weekend for Medford.
Coming Home 1st Lt. Donald
Bowman, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.
A. Bowman, Merrill, has arrived
in New York from Germany where
he spent several months in the
service, principally In Heidelberg
and Mannheim. He will go to Fort
Lewis before being discharged the
latter psrt of this month. Bowman,
graduate of the University of Ore
gon, spent 21 months in the
Army, and while overseas partici
pated frequently in sports events,
making some point records In bas
ketball.
Traveling Mr. and Mrs. A. A.
Myers, left Saturday for San Fran
cisco, where Myers will be re
entered .in the Southern Pacific
Hospital for further treatment for
injuries received some time ago
when ha was knocked down and
dragged by a freight train pull'

ceived serious bip and leg injur'
