Igaya, representing the Dart
mouth Outing Club of Hanover,
N.H., claimed the men's slalom
and combined championships. Miss
Banks' victories were in the wom
en's downhill run and the com
bined event. ' '
Dick Bueck of Sun Valley, Idaho,
salvaged some glory lor the Rocky
Mountain area by winning me
men's downhill run Saturday.
Jill Klnmont of Bishop, Calif.,
won Sunday's women's slalom, fin
ished second to Miss Banks In the
combined championship and was
third in the downhill run.

Army Private Roy L. Self, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Self, Bus-
anvllle, recently arrived in Korea

Construction Battalion. His new
unit, which has received citations
lrom Korean President Syngman
Rhee and the 8th Army, has been
helping to rebuild Pusan alter tne
big fire last November, Pvt. Self,
who was previously a student at
the Eta Jlma Specialist School in
Japan, entered the Army in June,
1963, and completed baslo training
at Fort Ord. He Is a former stu
dent at Lassen High School and
mechanic for Deal and Davie of
Gusanvllle.
Private James F. Southard, son
of Mrs. Minnie Hitchcock, Lookout,
is serving with the 28th Infantry
Division in Germany. The Keystone
Division Is undergoing intensive
training in southern Germany as
part of the U. S. Seventh Army.
A rifleman in the 110th Regiment's
Company F, Southard entered the
Army last August and completed
baslo training at Fort Ord. His
lather, Harry Soutliard, lives in
Bleber.
Mrs, Chris Starrwplano instruc
tor In Aituras, presented a recital
recently in which 1 of her music
pupils participated, ranging in ages
from the first grade through high
school. Tommy Gloster, six years
old and a first grader, was the
youngest of Uie group and headed
the program, followed by Mary
Mapcs, Judith Larsen, Robert
Wakefield, Diana Mapes, Maurlne
Mllllgan, Nancy Mnpes, Patricia
Demlck, Michael Mllllgan, Mary
Frances Clark, George Sloss, Rich
ard Rusyn, Colleen Gates and Ear
lene Zcger. Refreshments were
served following the recital to par
ents and friends.
George Frostlck, local contrac
tor, flew from Klamath Falls to
New York to attend a special Ma
sonic meeting at Hebron Masonic
Temple in Bronx, New York, when
his father, Right Worshipful Hany
Frostlck, was presented as Grand
Representative of the Most Wor
shipful Ornmt Lodge of Washing
ton. Frot tick's two brothers were
also present to witness this honor
conferred upon their father, and an
uncle arrived from Malaya, This
wag the first time. In eight years
that the Frostlck family had all
been together. George Frostlck is
a member of the Aituras Masonic
Lodge.
Erin Forrest left for Washington,
D. C. to testify in behalf ol the
Pit River Indians at the hearings
of Joint insular and interior affairs
committees of Congress on the pro
posed legislation that would with
draw the Indian Bureau from the
state of California. He is reportedly
in favor of such a withdrawal only
after all California Indian claims
have been settled. Forrest will also
appear at hearings in the Indian
Claims Commission, where a claim
of the Pit River Indians involving
several million dollars was heard.

Century Ranch, Silver Lake, Sun
day February 28, drew quite
crowd, weatner conditions were
favorable for the barbecue and
get-to-gether of the group and
many guests. Those from Fort
Rock who attended were Charley
Stingley, Mr. and Mrs. Chub
Frazee, Ivan Fainter and Mr. and
Mrs. Ellis Painter and baby daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Pitch
er. Owen and Jerry.
A birthday dinner was neio at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Branch the evening of February 26
honoring Muriel Herget. Those
present were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Branch. Clinton and Joan perry,
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Herget, carol,
Donna and Douglas. Joan and
Carol both planned and cooked the
birthday dinner. The two girls are
4-H members.
A Saturday night get-together
was held at tne home of Mr. and
Mrs. Jess Miles the evening of
February SO. Several neighbors
were invited to spend the evening
playing cards and games.

ah Sewing Circle whose birthdays
fall In the first quarter of tne
year were honored this week with
a lighted birthday cake by the hos
tesses, Mrs. Tom Den.ion and
Mrs, Charles Dinlck, when they
were entertained at the odd Fel
lows Hall. Mrs. Louisa Shedd, a
veteran member of the club, blew
out the candles. Mrs. Grace Whit
ing, president of the Aituras Par
ent-Teacher Association, Invited
members of the sewing circle to
assist with the PTA's welfare proj
ect of quilt and comfort making.
Since the circle has a quilting
trame, they plan to helo in the
welfare work.
Some 45 Boy Scouts and seven
Scoutmasters and asststafits of the
Pit River District wtnter-camped
at the Caldwell Ice Caves In the
Lava Beds last week. Troops from
Lookout, Adln and Aituras were
represented. The next camoma ac-
tlvity is planned during the Easter
vacation at snasta Lake.

title.
In the Southern Division, the
Trojans led hi defense by allow
lne opponents 723 points, a game
average of 60.3. They also held
Iocs to the lowest percentage on
field goal attempts, 33.7.
And the three playoff games for
the title against Oregon state of
the Northern Division were rela
tively low scoring affairs the Tro
jans winning 53-46 and 48-45 while
losing the second game 47-65.
Offensively in the division, cen
ter Russ Lawlcr of Stanford and
the UCLA Bruins copped statisti
cal honors. Lawler. a Junior, cap
tured both individual scoring and
rebounding laurels while . UCLA
took all Uie team offense laurels
total scoring, rebounding and
field goal and free throw percent
ages.
In the North, Oregon State, led
by 7 foot 3 Swede Halbrook, dom
lnated the statistics. Halbrook
scored tile second highest total
racked up in the division with 333
or 20.8 per game. Bob Houbregs
of Washington set the record with
406 points in 1952-53. .
Highest scoring team in the
North was Idaho with 1,023 and
an average of 63.9. Oregon State
had the best defensive record, lim
iting foes to 828. The Beavers
also had the best field goal per
centage. '

The school superintendent will
continue to have problems concern
ing the ever increasing school en
rollment. A glance at the vital sta
tistics column shows n daughter.
Carol Diane, born March 2 to Mr.
and Mrs. Clarence Hill. Clarence's
nephew, Richard Hill, was passing
out cigars, too, when Joan present
ed him with a daughter, Lois Ruth,
on March 3. Lillian and Joan are
sharing the same room and are
all doing fine. Lois Ruth has a
great grandmother living here,
Mrs. Estella Hill; a very young
grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Carson;
and proud grandfather, Ralph
nui.
Mrs. Leland Chevne entertained
the Bid or By bridge club at her
nome February 26. A frozen es
sert and coffee were served be
fore two tables of bridge played.
Mrs. Vern Berry won high; Mrs.
Jerry White, traveling; Mrs. Har
vey Wise, low. Also present were
Mrs. Forrest Brcithaupl, Mrs. Ro
berta Morris, Mrs. Ronald Whit
littch, Mrs. Wallace Thompson,

The Mt. Laki choir is hoDimr to
have new choir robes by Easter.
A. sample gown has been present
ed. Some of the women volunteered
to make the robes, but the cost
will be the same ready-made and
save many hours of work. The
choir has been asked to sing at
the Christian Endeavor convention
to be held In Klamath Falls April
29 through May 2.
Many families have, had the
mumps, including four Beyiners
Fred, Michael, Becky Jo and Kcl
ley Lec who came down with them
the same day. John Wallin, who
lias been in bed for three weeks,
Is still at home, but feeling much
better.

lips took advantage of the nice
weather and spent one day riding
horseback over the Dehllnger prop
erty on Stukel mountain.

Alton Short, celebrated his sixth
birthday anniversary with a partv
March 2. Mrs. Short prepared
punch and cupcakes with candles
