The CAA team has forecast the
U.S.-buiit Jet planes will go into
airline use between 1957 and 1959.

predicted that the first U. S. use
of Jets would be on long orerwater

Two Deaths

Marie Myers, Indianapolis.
The bodies were found In a car
which ran off Highway 59 north ol
Bellmore last night. Anderson was
slumped at the wheel, and the
woman's body was in the back,
covered by blankets. The rear seat
cushion had been removed.
Other motorists told the coroner
the car went off the rond alter
weavlnir as if the driver were
drunk,
Dr. Merrell said Miss Myers'
parents in Indianapolis stated that
she left Home yesterday to oe mar
ricd to a man who looked like a
farmer, whose name they did not
know.
The woman apparently had born
killed at the tenant home where
Anderson lived alone on the farm
of Oscar Clodfelter near Russell
vine, Dr. Merrell said. Anderson
was a widower whose children
were grown.
Bullet marks and blood stains
were found in the home.

Unitarian Church of Los Angeles
challenges a state law requiring a
loyalty oath of nonprofit organiza
tions seeking tax exemption as "a
frontal assault on freedom of re
ligion as guaranteed by the First
Amendment."
This Is the church whose pastor,
the Rev. Stephen H. Flrtchman,
refused to testify before the House-
Un-American Activities Commit
tee on the ground it sought "to
Invade the Intimate confidence of
the confessional."
Mr. Fritchman was listed by the
committee as sponsor of "no
less than 22 pro-Soviet organiza
tions." His congregation voted yester
day to instruct its trustees to de
cide against signing the loyalty
oath. The trustees' chairman, Atty.
Robert Schmorleltz, said the se
cretly taken vote was 206 to 31.
He said Mr. Flrtchman did not
participate in the discussion be
fore the vote.
A 1953 amendment to the state
revenue and taxation code pro
vodes that the property tax state
ment for churches and other non
profit groups shall Include a loyal
ty oath if tax exemptions arc
sought.

approved changes the Senate has
voted in a proposed constitutional
amendment by Sen. Brlcker (R
Ohio) to curb treaty powers.
Wiley, who heads the Senate
Foreign Relations Committee, said
In an interview he believes one
change to require all past and
future treaties to be made in "pur
suance" of the Constitution
"would raise cain in Uie courts."
This proposal, adopted by a 44-43
vote of the Senate Inst week, would
make all past and future treaties
subject to court review on their
constitutionality.
It was combined with proposals
to require Senate roll-call votes on
treaties and a requirement that
treaties and other international
agreements conform to the Consti
tution to make, up what now is
known as the administration's
bill.
Wiley, who has opposed any
change in the Constitution at this
time, said he hopes this measure
or any other that comes up for a
final vote In the Senate can be
defeated outright.
Wiley added, however, that he
is going to canvass the situation
in advance and may vote for a
proposal by Sen. Morse (Ind-Ore)
to send the whole subject back to
the Judiciary Committee.
The CIO Executive Committee,
in a statement last night, said Uie
chief backers of Bricker's proposal
are diehard elements trying to
lorce the United States Into "self
defeating isolationism." The state.
ment urged defeat of the Bricker
amendment and "any compromise
which would appease ' Its backers.
No votes were scheduled today.

Earth Tremors
Disrupt City

earthquake-like series of tremors
rocked an eight-block residential
area Sunday causing extensive
damage and disrupting gas and
water supplies to some 1,600 per
sons. The brief series of earth move
ments left streets ripped up and
partly covered with water from
broken mains. Fumes from
cracked pas lines resulted in an
all night vigil by police and fire
men. There were no Injuries.
