Tear Gas Used To Rout Woman TACOMA Ifl Tear gas bombs routed a young mother from her home here Wednesday after a shooting sprea police said claimed the life of her 84-year-old grand father. Detective Lt. George Johnson said police were sent to the home of Mrs. Betty Forsell, 26, after neighbors called to report "some one is shooting up the neighbor hood." Johnson said they found Mrs. Forsell locked in her home with her 7-year-old daughter. The grandfather, Joseph W. Long, was round dead with a bullet wound in his heart In his home next door. The detectives said Mrs. For sell warned officers back when they tried to approach the home and after trying to reason with the woman they called for the tear gas squad. A round of tear gas was fired Into the building and Mrs. Forsell came out the front door. Johnson said. Police then rushed in and grabbed the child. She had a regular radio show, and her records con tinued to sell not only like hot cakes, but like records as well. She had four big hits In 1953, and her current "Make Love to Me" is Jiving the Juke boxes. '"Besides, I'm lazy," she admit ted. She'd Just as soon stay home and take care of her year-old Timmy. But one day her agent came to her with the CBS deal. It was a straight three-year contract with options thereafter. It was too good to pass up. The present plan calls for a 15 mlnute show "along the Perry Como-Dinah Shore lines" every Tuesday. It may be expanded to twice weekly since Jo feela her voice wears better with folks if they're exposed to It more often. 'One of the things I want to concentrate on with, our show is the audio," she remarked. "There is not enough good music in TV. The thinking goes back to 'lie early days when the public would look at anything, even a test pattern. The sound part of the show was unimportant, and the music was sluffed off. "They're still doing It in TV. and I think the public resents it. They want and expect good music with a show. Or else - why would they buy so many records?" (CCC) of the Depart ment of Agriculture, for resale to Russia. An informed source who report ed the new butter proposal said it was "much smaller" than the An dreas offer, but was also a pro posal to buy butter from CCC stocks. The CCC buys surplus farm products to support farm prices. The source, who asked not to be named, said he could not say what price was offered for the butter In the new proposal: But, he said, the butter would go to Russia if the Commerce Department approved. The department licences trade in strategic items and all trade with Iron Curtain countries. 7.1 was apparently price that stpped the Andreas butter-for-Russia deal.
