FIFTY YEARS AGO ON NEW YEAR'S DAY . j . Holed Domen and John Taltacs were married in
Panaie, New Jersey. This first day of January in 1954, they were guests of honor at the
Tulelalce home of their daughter end son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Kandra Jr., when friends
called to congratulate them on their Qolden Wedding anniversary. "
They are at present living in Medford, where they moved after Mr. Takacs retired from''
(arming in Merrill, where they had lived from March 1925 to 1947. .This late, spring they plan to
move back to the- Klamath' Basin and will live in Tulelake. :'. v.' v. '
, - They had six children, five of whom are living. Steve, John Jr., Margaret IMrs. John Kan
dra Jr.) all of Tulelake; Richard of Merrjll; and Helen (Mrs. Robert) Nebiker, la Quinta,
California. They have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, 's

MRS. THOMAS JEFFERSON ORR JR. . . . who was Margaret
Mary Kenny before her marriage December 27, in Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Sacramento. She is the daugh-.
ter of Thomas F. Kenny and the late Mrs. Kenny of that city,
and the wedding was an event of the holiday season, with
four hundred guests"witnessing the 2 p.m. service. The Rev.
James Mulligan officiated assisted by the bride's brother,
the Rev. Keith B. Kenny.. ' v
Her husband .is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jeffer-.
son. Orr Sr., Vho were in Sacramento for the wedding and
the reception which followed at the YLI Clubhouse. ;
Tom is a graduate of KUHS and University of California,
and served in the Air Force. He is a member of Pi Kappa Phi
fraternity, at UC, where he is studying for his master's degree

The bride was student body1 president of St. Francis High
School, and was graduated from Sacramento Junior College,
where she was affiliated with Newman Club and Delta Psi
Omega honorary drama society. She was also active in drama

summer session will begin August

The association is proud to an
nounce that the Instructor this sum
mer will be M. C. Sponcnburger,
assistant art professor at the Uni
versity of Oregon. Professor Spon
enburger studied In Egypt prior to
his present post at U. of O.
The second half of the winter
courses in drawing, textile paint
ing, and jewelry making will be
gin February 9 at the YMCA. The
stimulating as well as beneficial
classes will be offered to any In
terested persons each Tuesday eve
ning at 7:30 for six weeks. The
competent instructors are as fol
lows: Mrs. Catherine Brumbaugh,
sketching; Mrs. B. B. Blomqulst,
textile painting; and Mrs. Helen
Balenttne, Jewelry making. In ad
dition to the six weeks of Instruc
tion the nominal fee of $5.00

Highlight of the evening was the
preview of the Ben Steele pictures
now on display at the Art Center.
An Interesting biographical sketch
was given by Lorraine Johnson.
The pictures are very impressive
in as much as they are authentic
sketches of the ordeals suffered by
prisoners of war while Inside the
barricades of the prison camps.
The works of Elliott O'Hara will
be the second of the series ot ex
hibits to be presented this winter.
The next regular meeting of the

Church. She Is Susie Lee Wil
liams, daughter . of Mr. and Mrs.
Bryant Williams, Henley District.
The young girl, who win oe lour
teen on the 24th- of ' February, is
a "natural" for her roleVas mu
sician in the church. She has al
ways, shown an interest in hymns
-r-fi'om the time she was five and
one-half, when she started piano
lessons with Mrs. E. D. . Johnson,
she picked out hymns. Later, when
she was taking lessons from the
Rev. Dwayne L. Proett. ; he was
aware of her interest in them, and
gave her special instruction to help
her" properly interpret that type of
music- .- ' , r . . :
Many hours of practice were spent
by Susie under the Rev. Proett's
supervision after she was actually
playing for the church services.
In fact, according to her mother-
whole year was devoted to
Susie and the electric organ."
Two weeks after the church was
dedicated, she was called upon to
pley for a funeral. Her 'first wed
ding was the recent one 01 Mary
Louise Enman to Dale Peyton.
Continuing with her music, she Is
S. (Eileen) Herringshaw, who lives
in the Henley District, ' and' is at
present the choir director pf the
Mt. Laki Church.
Susie has a younger sister, Sara
Jane, who is ten. She has . been
taking piano-lessons for two years
from Margaret Davies nd it's
easy to think that lively duets are
no novelty In the Williams' house
hold. , . ;
AMARANTH MEETS
Ruth Rodenberger was presiding
royal matron at the regular meet
ing of Amaranth, January 20, in
the absence of Beatrice Den Is on,
who is still a polio .patient in . Eu
gene. It was reported that she. is
recovered to the extent that she
hopes to be in Klamath Falls for
the next meeting. '
' During a short recess the group
was entertained with piano and
violin selections played by Sally
and Linda Hanville, small daugh
ters of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Han
ville. i
