Baptists Observe
Bible Study Week
Three Southern Baptist churches
of the Klamath Basin will observe
Bible Study Week January 25 to 29
by studying the Boot of Psalms.
The First Baptist ana calvary
Baptist churches of Klamath Falls
and the First Baptist Church of
Dorris, California, will spend five
evenings, Monday through Friday
in this study. Meetings will begin
at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist
Church. 414 North Eighth, Klam
ath Falls,' and at the First Baptist
Church of Dorris.
There will be courses for all age
groups, from children four years
old through adulthood. This will
give parents the opportunity to at
tend classes for adults at the same
time their children are studying,
Calvary Baptist will have a class
for young people only.
Bible Study week here is being
held in conjunction with the an
nual 'week" observed by the
churches of the Baptist General
Convention of Oregon and Wash
ington, and the 29,000 churches of
the Southern Baptist Convention
These churches are located In all
continental United States, Canada.
Alaska, Cuba, Central America
and the Panama Canal Zone.

On Wednesday night, Jan. 22.
1947, a group of Baptist people met
In the auditorium of the public
library for the purpose of organi
zing a church. A council was
formed by the following ministers:
J. M. Cooper, Frank Nixon, R. E.
Milam and c. A. Waterhouse. Thir
ty-five members ma:de up the char
ter group, which voted to affiliate
with the Southern Baptist conven-'
tion.
Ferry M. Johnson was called as
the first pastor on March 23, 1947.
The church purchased property
on the corner of East Main and
Garden and held Its first worship
at that location Jan. 4. 1948.
After the Rev. Johnson resigned,
the church called E. R. Jacks of
Oklahoma, who , became pastor
NOV. 1, 194B.
The church began a building pro
gram in the spring of 1949 and on
March 25, 1951, the first service
was held in the new auditorium.
Soon after this the Rev. Jacks re
signed and the church called B. P.
