Unintentionally omitted from the
list of out-oi-town relatives attend
ing the Thanksgiving Day open
house held by Mr. and Mrs. Ober
Brown was that of a most im
portant guest, his mother, Mrs.
Carleton O. (Alice) Brown, Crys
tal, who called during the after
noon. Summoned to Cottonwood, Ida.
by news oi the serious illness of
a son and brother, Pres Thomas
and Clay left Tuesday, Dec. 8.
The patient, Haskell Thomas, 48,
is at the Cottonwood hospital sut
lering from a peculiar malady as
jet undiagnosed by attending phy
sicians. Mrs. Orland Lynch, Klam
ath Falls, a daughter of Pres
Thomas and sister of Clay and
Haskell Thomas, accompanied the
two local men on the trip. In addi
tion, two other brothers, accom
panied by their families, came
from their homes in Salinas, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Mc
Auliffe moved Friday to their
winter home at Red Bluff, Calif.,
following the last shipment of cat
tle south from pasture on the
Emmeit Sisemore ranch. Their
daughter Geneva and son Am-
were Mr. and Mrs. Paddy Ken
neally and Dora Lee. Kenneally
is Joseph McAultffe's year-round
ranch hand. The Kenneally s have
been living at the Denton ranch,
occupying the smaller of the ranch
residences. The Denton land was
leased to McAuliffe who pastured
part of his cattle there for the
season,
Mr. . and Mrs. Jack Thomas
moved this week to their Klamath
Falls residence where they will
remain until Spring. Their son Paul
has been attending Klamath Union
High School while staying with rel
atives in Klamath Falls and has
now joined his parents. Mrs. Thom
as will resume employment in
Crater Lake National Park next
spring; and Thomas is employed
by the State of Oregon Came Com
mission. Overnight guests Thursday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Vaden and Anita were Criss
Vaughn and little Karen, here from
Lebanon for a brief visit. After
enjoying a day of duck hunting,
Vaughn and his daughter returned
home. The two are distant rela
tives of Mrs. Vaden.
Pfc. Leonard (Socko) Smith left
brose will remain at Sacred Heart j Sunday evening for Ft. Lewis.
Academy in Klamath Falls where
they are' boarding pupils; their old
er son. Jackie, is. attending Bel
larmine Academy in San Jose,
Calif.

of the U. S. Army somewhere in
Alaska. Previous to his month's
furlough spent here with his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Smith,

Hanford atomic plant in Washing
ton. r
Going south Monday were Mr.;
and Mrs. Ted Floyd and two small J
eons. They will winter in Redj
Blulf at the Ira and Harry Orem
ranch where Floyd will be in :
charge of the Orem cattle taken I
there recently for winter pasture. !
In the spring, when conditions
warrant shipping stock back for
seasonal pasture to the Wood River
Valley, the young Floyds will re
turn to their home at the Harry
Orem ranch here.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L, (Dink)
Reese left Tuesday, Dec. 15, for
California. They will do some fish
ing and visit relatives before set
tling down until next spring at
their winter home in Bakersfield,
Calif. They own and operate the
Fort Creek Motor Lodge and serv
ice station but have closed the
business pending their return here
in the spring.
