the Oregon Civil Rights Statute
which was passed In the last ses
sion of the State Legislature.
Williams reiterated the NAACP
opposition to the appointment here
of State Sen. Warren Gill as
U.S. Attorney for the Oregon Dis
trict. Hie opposition was based on
Gill's expressed philosophy con
cerning civil rights expressed by
Sen. Olll during the debates on
the Civil Rights Statute. Attorney
Williams quoted Gill as having said
"That he opposed the law because
it discriminated against the ma
jority," a statement Williams char
acterized as ridiculous.
The local branch then went on
record opposing the appointment ot
Sen. Gill as U.S. Attorney and fur
ther commended in the resolution,
the legislative leadership of Sen.
Phil Hitchcock.

'Re-Educated'
ROKs Homeward
SEOUL W Another 205 South
Koreans, repatriated last summer,
in Operation Big Switch, arrived
this morning on their way home
after three years of war and cap
tivity. The group had been "re-educat
ed" on Yongcho Island, west of
Pusan, after their return from the
Communists.
Of 1,000 South Korean repatriates
taken to the island since Big
Switch ended early In September,
1,000 "were sent home last month
in Operation Homecoming. A total
of 848 sick and wounded repatri
ates are being held for medical
treatment.
