Kidnaped At Gunpoint

driver of the car In which she was
found was Jailed without charge.
Thursday morning, officials at
Roseburg said they awaited the
signing of a complaint before mov
ing against the Jailed man, William
Frank Corey, 34.
Mrs. William Jones, whose hus-

from a burglary charge last
spring, was in the car with Corey
when a police road block halted it.
She told of being cowed by Corey
and said he fired a pistol shot
once, to show her he meant what
he said. There was a bullet noie
in the car door.

Wednesday Corey forced her at
gunpoint to enter his car and he
started to drive south out of town.
She protested she could not leave
her daughter, Tamara, 7. and they
drove back ana got we cnua v
the Jones home.
She tried several times, sne said,
to attract attention to her plight
but failed. Then, pleading that her
daughter was not well, Corey drove
to within a few blocks of the Jones
home where the child was let out
and told to play with friends.
She said she was forced to go to
her bank where she cashed a
check for ' $1,800 and again was
fearful of any display which might
have attracted attention.
Then they drove out of town

Avenue.
The planting and planning of the
garden was done by the women
themselves, with rakes and hoes,
shovels and trowels, with sacks of
bone meal and sprinkling cans of
water, the various women of the
club have been working for the past
several days in laying out the plan

tual planting. Much ot the work has
been under the direct supervision
of Mrs, Ray Garrison, 2958 Hope
Street, who is the Community Pro
ject Chairman of the Evergreen
Club.
