Obviously, that kind of baseball

wins over Salem Wednes
day night and all but knocked the
wavering Senators out of second
place in the Western International
Baseball League. ,
The Capllanos clipped the Ore
gonlans 3-1 in the seven-inning
opener at Vancouver, then took
the nightcap 6-1. The double win
gave the Caps a sweep of the four
game series and left them only
half a game away from the No.
2 berth. , .
Spokane also cashed in on Sa
lem's misfortunes. The Indians
down Tri-City 6-5 and 12-8 at
Spokane. That Increased their first
place margin to four full games.
In other contests, Yakima shad
ed Victoria 6-5, Calgary edged
Lewis(on 5-4, and Edmonton swept
- twlnblll at Wenatchee, 11-5 and
2-0.
The senators, who managed only
one run in each of their four
games at Vancouver, draw some

and a walk.
Spokane used three pitchers to
crush Trl-City's seventh-inning
rally In the first game with the
Indians. John Cordell put out the
five after one run had scored. The
Braves outhit the Indians 16-13 in
the afternpiece but fell short in the
