who has headed the park during

taking a year's leave of absence

try leaders today blamed "a mis
erable" Job of salesmanship for a
surplus of butler, cheere and dried
milk piling up in government
hands.
To correct this situation, the
American Dairy Association is de
veloping a 10 million dollar a year
sales promotion and advertising
campaign lo get consumers to buy
more milk and dairy foods.
Plans for such a campaign were
disclosed yesterday by officials of
the association and the National
Milk Producers Federation follow
ing a conference with President
Eisenhower and Secretary of Agri
culture Benson at the White House.

of Christian Science Activities for
the Armed Services. The appoint
ment was made by The Christian
Science Board of Directors of The
Mother Church, The First Church

His duties will include procure
ment of chaplains and civilian
religious ministers at military in
stallations and veterans hospitals,
and liaison with the chaplains and
supervision of the ministers fur
nished by The Mother Church for
service throughout the United
States and overseas.'HIs office will
be in Boston, headquarters of the
denomination, but he will be In
constant touch with officials at the
Pentagon and elsewhere in Wash
ington. Men and women who serve at
these Installations as Christian
Science practitioners will hence
forth be known as Christian
Science Ministers for the Armed
Services. Previously thev were
known as christian Science War
time Ministers during World War
II, and as Christian Science Work
ers since then.

Capt. W. a. Siever of the Bronx,
N. Y.. took off in a Jet fighter on
an "air alert mission" and ended
up In a submarine.
Flying about 11 miles south of
Westerly, R. I., yesterday his en
gine failed and he parachuted Into
the waters of Long Island Sound.
He was rescued unhurt by a sub
marine on a training mission out
of the naval base here.

China city of Szewui were arrested
Monday on charges of guiding a
plane which dropped anti-Red leaf
lets over the city.

said the clergymen were tried and

They are still playing the field that

Charlie Chaplin.- Harold Lloyd,
Buster Keaton. w. C. Fields. Fatty
A r buckle. Laurel and Hardy and
other greats.
Since the deaths of Edgar Ken
nedy and Leon Errol, the Stooges
are the only comics left in shorts
aeries. They are doing mighty well,
thank you. They are now celebrat
ing their 20th year In shorts by
making some 3D subjects. Man,
think of the possibilities pies com
ing right at the audience!
V ''Comedy . shorts are coming
back," observed Moe Howard, the
guy in the middle who deals out the
knocks to the other two. "They've
got to. The studios are going in for
big productions. That means they'll
have to round out the theater pro
gram with a news, cartoon and
comedy.
"And since so many pf the big
pictures are dramas, that means
they'll need some comedy relief to
balance the bill."
The Stooges' comedy Is a relief to
everyone but themselves. Theyd
take a terrific beating. Although
Moe generally bops his partners, he
is tne one wno usually gets hurt in

friends gathered on horseback to
ride to Muskgrave creek on the
Melss ranch for their second break

ey from the Ora Garey ranch east
of town. They were the first to
get under way.

fell with their burden 25 feet to the
ground Tuesday when a third floor
porch landing collapsed under their
weight.
