casualties that got mixed in a four
car scramble on the final turn of
the fourth lap, Morrison, upended

He turned his car over twice, on
the first lap and tenth, and fin

Crawley, making a strong bid
for the blue ribbon, spun out on
the thirteenth lap and never got
back In contention. Yreka's Hop
kins, rid of pesky Crawleyi went on
to win handily over Smith and Ed
Rouls. '
Hopkins is also the lad who left
towir'wlth the trophy in the dash
event and a kiss lrom the trophy
girl. ' i ;
He won the second' heat. Jack
Matney the first, Neil Mayfield the
third and Morrison the fourth. This
was Hopkins' first appearance on
the Klamath Falls track and he
filled in adequately for Woody
Tbomason and Chick Robinson,
Yreka drivers absent last night.

on the seventeenth, nerfed out by
one car and clouted hard by an
other as he spun around.

The Spokane Indians and Salem
Senators went their separate ways
in the Western International Base
ball League Monday, after a "cru
cial" "weekend meeting that set
tled nothing. .' ' (
The two clubs, only half a game
apart when they opened the four
game stand at Salem last Friday,
divided a doubleheader Sunday.
That gave them ' an even split ' in
the series and left them where
they were at the start, still half a
game apart with Spokane out In
front.
The road ahead may be easier
for the Indians. They play three
gomes starting Monday night with
last place - Victoria. Salem, idle
Monday night, goes up against the
Lewlston Broncs Tuesday. And the
Broncs are still smarting for their
last meeting early In June. They
were leading the league at the
time and. appeared a shoo-in for
the first half championship. How
ever Salem took the series and
went on to win the title and
berth in the, postseason playoff.

twice Sunday 8-7 and 3-2 in their
