WINNER OF THE LOUISE RINEHART art scholarship this year
ii Donna Guthrie, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Guthrie.
735 So. Riverside Street. Oonna will use the $32 to study art
during the Summer Art Workshop on the OTI Campus spon
sored by the Klamath Art Association. She has also won the
Gold Key offered by Meier and Frank, Portland and won state
competition in pastel drawing. She will study at OTI under
Jack Wilkinson, University of Oregon art instructor who. is
teaching art 'classes. here during July.

Mrs. Earl Wilcox and children,
Mollie and Bobble, left Monday
for several weeks with relatives In
Seattle. They traveled north with
a sister and brother-in-law of Mr.
Wilcox, Mr, and Mrs. Jack Ward,
and their two children, who had
been visiting here over the 4th. ,
Guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dwlght
Patton and daughter are Patton's
parents, grandmother, and broth
ers. Mrs. Claude Patton of New
castle, Pa.; Rev. and Mrs. Her
man Patton, Bruce and Milton,
Wlllmlngton, Ohio. Rev. Patton Is
attending a national convention
the Disciples of Christ church in
Portland but will return before the
group again heads east.
An annual fireworks dlsnlay was
held on the tennis court the night
of the 4th.
Dwlght ; "Bubs" Souers Jr., was
guest of honor recently at a ham
burger fry and swimming party
held at Denton park In late June.
Hostesses for the evening were
Twlla Knlghtplce, Myrna and LHa
Kensler and Janice Leake of Chtl
oquin. Hie soil conservation men, their
wives and families picnicked the
4th at Collier Park. ' Attending
were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rogers,
Bill, Dick and Betty, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Butler, Val and infant
son, Mr. and Mrs. . Jack . Shoe
maker, jacque, Kirk and Brent.
Mr.' and Mrs. Harry Reed, Bob
and Ruth Ann, were guests from
their home In Indianapolis, Ind.,
at their older daughter's, the Con
rad Shellands, for two weeks. They
left just two hours before Bad
lands' parents and an - aunt' ar
rived, also - from Indianapolis.
The Conrad Shellands Sr., aro an
nual visitors here. Shetland's aunt
is Mrs. Helen Eichenberger.
Guests over the 4th at the
Dwlght Souers and Earl Kensiers
were the Dutch Dolphus family
from Toledo and Mr. and Mrs.
Steve Wllkie, also from the coast.

the weekend at Medicine Lake.

last week but were unable to stay
because Joanne Butler had the
measles.

Mrs. Harold Goode and Kane of
Grass Lake.
Roy Andrus, Betty, Harold, Mar
ilyn and Marlene visited relatives
in Alturas recently.

Boyd Dennis arrived from Santa
Barbara Wednesday to spend the
summer with his father, Ivan Den

Tuesday to spend a few days on
the coast. They planned to spend
the Fourth with Bard's mother at

Macdoel Monday. James and Ger
ald Noakes. grandsons, returned
with them to spend the night.

Diego stopped at the home of her
mother, Mrs. Ken Alloway, on her
way to Iowa for a three weeks'
vacation. She took her two daugh
ters, Beverly and Debbie, who
