Marines Give
Playground
The residents of Llndlcy Heights
are being given two acres of
ground, designated (or a park and
playground area.
The gift Is to be made Friday
by the Crater Lake Detachment
of the Marine Corps League, which
In years past had acquired the
vacant properly with a view to es
tablishing some sort of memorial
lo the Msrlnes from Klamath
Falls and Klamath County who
have died In action,
Clement Lesueur, commandant
of the Marine Corps League de
tachment, la to present the deed
to the property to County Judge
U. E. Reeder. and Judue Reeder
has agreed to appoint Ted Blng-I
nam, a resident or tne area, aa
caretaker of the property.
There are no strings attached to
the deed to the property, so that
the county can make whatever dis
position It wishes, but the Ma
rine Corpa League is making a
part of the County Court's records
a recommendation that the two
acres be used for a playground.
At present there is no organised
playground for children of the Lind
ley Helrhts area.
The Marine Corpa League also
wants me county to erect a marker
reading; .
"This park area has been given
In memory of the gallant U.S. Ma
rines who gave their lives that we
might live."
There also Is an understanding
that a portion of the property may
be sold to obtain funds to equip
tne pari.
A possibility Is thst the people
or the Llndley Heights area may
choose to form a park district.
similar to the Wlard Park District
to equip and operate a public play
ground, using the donated property
aa a ataning point.
