SANTA MONICA. Calif. (ft-Rcd
Skelton, was recuperating today
from a three-hour operation per
formed yesterday to correct a
diaphragmatic hernia.
Dr. Stanley W. Immerman. one
of the surgeons, said that barring
complications, the TV and film
comic will be out of the hospital
in to to 12 days out must remain
at home three weeks longer. Skel

six weeks ahead.
Ekelton's condition is sometimes
called an upside down stomach.
The hernia caused his stomach to
push against his heart and lungs,
resulting in breathing difficulties
and other trouble.
The comedian's wife. Mrs.
Georgiana Skelton. said he had
been suffering excruciating pain
since the start of his television
shows this season and that she
was clad he finally made the de
cision to undergo surgery.
She shrugged off reports of re
cent family disagreements with
the statement: "Red and I still
happen to be In love."
