Charles F. Kettering, one of the

come to know well personally, was

Kettering, famed Inventor and re
search consultant, noted that Wll
kle has been closely associated
with the Industry since Its begin
ning. He suggested he write a book
tracing its steady development dur
ing 60 years.
Wllkle. who began his AP career
as an office boy at the age of It,
served as the wli. service's De
troit bureau chief before becoming
national automotive editor in 1B39.
He plans lo continue his automo
tive writing.
