TO'
FIFTY YEARS AGO Corinna Howard became the bride of Pleasant D. Reader in Silver
Lake, Ore. They were married Nov. o, 1902, and lived on a cattle ranch out of Silver Lake,
which P. D. Reeder owned and operated with hit brother, Ulyuei E Reeder, pretent
Klamath County Judge. They told the ranch in 1910 and moved into Silver Lake where
Mr. Reeder owned a meat market and wet U.S. Land Commisiioner and deputy sheriff of
Lake County.
They moved to Corvallii in 1924 to enter their children in school; and lived there until
1928 when they came to Klamath Falls. Mr. Reeder owned grocery stores and was co
owner of the Cash Baxaar with Vern Norval. Later he sold his intert nd has since been
associeted with his son Dick Reeder in his men's clothing store at Main and 5th.
Open house was held at their home, 312 Michigan, Nov. 6, by their children. Over 150
guests called between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Their four daughters and daughtar.in-few assisted them throughout the day. Mrs. Charles

SOIL CONSERVATION speech at Bly earlier this month
brought this trophy to pretty Elne Mae Fitihugh, 17-year-old
Bonanza High Senior. Representing the Langell Valley Soil
Conservetion District, she defeated representatives from Lake
view and Poe Valley and went on to Baker where a recording
of her talk was sent on to national competition.

and Klamath counties met at the
Bly School the evening of Nov. 10.
The national Soil Convention
Districts are sponsoring speecd
contests on Soil Conservation. Etna

Valley, Dan Dunham and Lelsnd
Smitb, represented Lakeview coun
ties. Judges were Mrs. Betty
Kagerod, Delbert MlUwllard and

Elna Fitzbugh won the cup
awarded by the Langell Valley
Soil District and she also won the
5ii given by the National Boil Con
servation. Elna will represent this
area at the State meet.

FORT KLAMATH Members of
the Women's Society of Christian
Service convened Thursday after
noon, Nov. 13, when Mrs. Lloyd
Nicholson was hostess at her home
for the regular monthly meeting of
the local Methodist church group
of women.
Mrs. Richard H. Wilson, presi
dent of tbe society, conducted the
business session, during which
tentative plans were made for re
decorating lhr church interior, ma
terials chosen being Flr-Tex and
knotty pine paneling. Men of the
congregation will do the carpenter
work scheduled to start soon, ac
cording to plana outlined at the
Tbursaay meeting.
After tbe busmess meeting, those
present heard the first in a series
of talks on Africa, given by guest
speaker, Mrs. Paul Herron of the
Cblloquin church group, who re
cently concluded di&cusslons on La
tin America. Refreshments were
served by the hostess to the fol
lowing guests: Mrs. c. EHery Ech
lin, Chtloquin. wife of the pastor
of Fort Klamath and Chtloquin
Methodist churches; Mrs. Paul

Clubhouse here was the gathering
place for a large group of mem
bers of Fort Klamath and Chilo
quin Methodist Churches, when a
potluck dinner was served at six
o'clock, followed by the regular
quarterly church conference. Re
ports on various branches of church
and Sunday school work were given
by workers of both churches, fol
lowed by an Informative address
by the district superintendent of
the Methodist Churches of Oregon,
S. Raynor Smith. Eugene, who
came here especially for the occa
sion, accompanying the Reverend
and Mrs. C. Ellery Echlln to Fort
Klamath from their borne at the
Chiloquin parsonage.
