stewardess tell her atory about the
slaying of an airline official, then
refused to indict her.
Pretty Mrs. Thomas H. Van
Bibber. 30. testified for 65 minutes.
Her testimony remained secret.
Lawrence Ken, an ozarks Air
Line superintendent, was fatally
shot last March In front of the
girl's apartment Mrs. Van Bibber,
whose name then was Betty Lou
Tracy, worked for the same air
line.
Police quoted her as saying .he
shot Kell. 43-year-old father of two
children, after he threatened her
life for associating with other men.

The 50-year-old girl made her
professional debut only a week ago
at the Mocambo, famed Sunset
strip playground of movie atara
and Texas olllonalres.
On the strength of this first night
club stmt. Paramount has signed
her for the lead opposite Donald
O'Connor in 'The Big Song and
Dance." It also earned her smaller
parts in "Forever Female" and
Mouauu. ' - s
A few months ago. this girl con
fined ber"3inging to the shower,
although her lather. Ray Gilbert,
Is a famous tong writer and coach
of such singers as Tony Martin,
Tonl Arden and others.
She had been working as a model
until last summer Then she told
her father that she thought ahe
could sing. He took a listen, and
us he puts It: "She discovered her
self right under my nose."
: Since then the father groomed
her for a professional debut. Local
critics . did cartwheels after her
Mocambo opening.
Joarme combines little of the
styles of Lena Home and Billy
Daniels, yet comes out like a night
