'Old Colonel' Inspires Men

The old colonel "didn't have any
damn business up there" on Tri
angle HH1, the captain said, his
blUcrncHS tinged with admiration.
"I remember the colonel said ho
had a rebel Hag and was going to
pin It up there."
"It was the most remarkable
example of courage I have ever
seen," Ihc master sergeant said.
The old colonel worked his way
up Triangle Hill to direct artillery
lire. He led an inlantry charge In
stead That wasn't his Job. He died
on the edge ot a Chinese trench
at the crest.
"All the men were stunned and
shocked from a grenade shower,"
the master sergeant recalled, "All
the olllcers and platoon sergeants
were hurt. When he Joined us it
