guests for the hunting season at
the home of Olaser s son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rob
ert Nelson.
The Nelsons plan to move this
week to Tangent where they will
make their home.

They plan to spend several days
for the hunting season.
Verda Currcy, Corvallls, was a
houseguest over the weekend at
the Earl Cogbum home. She re
turned home on sunaay evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook
and family spent Sunday at the
Charlie Cook home in New Pine
Creek.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake McOuffln ar
rived last week from their home
at Slorin, Calif., to spend several
weeks visiting their son and daugh-ter-ln-lnw,
Mr, and Mrs. A. L.
McOuffin.
Spending the weekend and en
joying the deer hunting at the Ligh-
tle home were Walt s nephew and
two nieces of Springfield. Buck
Lightle and his sister Erma, an
other sister and her husband, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Davidson and chil
dren, accompanied by bis brother
Frank Davidson.
Marvin Wells, Lakeview. accom
panied Normal Wells and son Jim
on a hunting trip over the weekend
Judy Snider spent Friday night
in Lakeview at the home of her
girl friend, Carolyn Bailey. They
attended the Dau game in the eve
ning.
Arriving here from California for
a brief visit with Andrew Deter tn
Lakeview, was his son Leo Deter,
who is very well known in this
district. Leo also participated In the
opening day of deer season, and
visited briefly with his brothers
before returning home on Sunday
evening.
Will Vernon was quite lucky and
bagged his buck at the opening ol
toe season.
Jimmy Walls of the Idaho dis
trict was an overnight guest of
Kiiey McBride Friday evening. The
two boys went hunting Saturday.

of Lakeview called on Mrs. Leone
Kelso and Mrs. Lee O Neil, Sunday
afternoon.

reason tor their sudden trip was
that word came telling, of a ser
ious accident Involving Paul Ben
nett who was reported dying after
being crushed under a traetor
which turned over on him. The
luckless man was a lormer resi
dent of Willow ranch having- left
there only last June where he had
been employed at the mill for 4 or
years. He is also the brother ot
Mrs. Bunch and Alton Bennett. The
last word received by the group
before leaving was that the brother
was suffering terribly with a
crushed chest and was not expected
to live. This group of relatives
planned to reach Oklahoma with
tho greatest dispatch, each taking
turns at the wheel tin continuous
driving.
John Collins, a former resident
of Willow Ranch and well known

daughters returned Sunday after
spending a few days visiting with
her husband's brother and family

Mrs. Lllllam Reld returned last
Tuesday after spending a week in
Eugene visiting her niece. Miss
Gloria Berry who Is attending the
university there.
Mrs. Minnie Fleming look sick
last Tuesday evening week ago and
was visited by her aon, Carmen
Fleming who brought her back with
him to slay at hla ranch home
until she recovered from an at
tack of Rallstones, She aeemi to
have Improved considerably ac

Bob French, accompanied I cou
ple of his pals, drove up from
Sacramento week ago last Satur
day, to get In on a day of hunt
ing with his uncle Verle Cook.
They didn't have any luck that
day however therefore no trophies
and no venison.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hovey ot

hunters In the area last week.
They visited with the Omar Ham
merslcy family at Davis Creek.
Mra. Hovey, formerly Mlsa Dolly
Orey of New Pine Creek and her
two boys Raymond and Leo, came
up and drove down to see what had
become of her old home which waa
the old McArthur place down by
the rail road tracks due west of
town and near the state line. Her
home she knew as a girl has been
moved, however, and ai been re
modeled somewhat Into the com-

the Kelly Creek school when a girl
to the tutorship of Mrs, Cora Foi
lelte, now living In Lakeview. and
also to Mrs. Kathryn Dick the pres
ent instructor at Kelly Creek school

neti was In her class she ssld
Her father. Jesa Orey, was em
ployed at the Jensen Power
plant up Pine Creek Canyon ait
an operator. She Is a distant rela
tlve to Robert J, Snider whom she
stopped to pay a ahort visit.

nesday after attending the funeral
of Mrs. Palmer's brother, Henry
Stangy, Woodburn, Ore., who had
passed away wllh heart failure.
They also attended the wedding cer
emonies In Seattle of their grand
daughter. Misa Beverly Byrd who
waa united In Marriage to Less
Adams of Seattle, They were gone
about two weeks.
While the Oregon hunters were
out awarmlrig Into the hills early
last Saturday morning, In quest
of a deer, Lawrence Darby went
them one better. He left late Fri
day evening for Reno where he
secured for hlmnelf a Dear. There

day morning to Mlsa Myrna Kil
llan of Willow Ranch fformarly of
NPC), Accompanying the pair were
Mr, and Mrs. Ray McLaughlin,
Freddie Taylor and Elmer Ad-
dlngton. The wedding parly re
turned Sunday afternoon after see
ing the sights In Reno Saturday
afternoon ana sunaay morning.

and Coos Bay Is down account of

and wife, Dorothy, arrived Satur

hunting. "Just a little harder to
