boys" clothing in ten years." Is the
way the Wool Bureau, Inc. des

Eight of the leading boys' cloth
ing manufacturers confirm that a
snarl has suddenly developed In
production and delivery.
Like many another manufactur
er. Uiev insist that merchants
badlv misludged the strength of
the fall and winter market.
The clothing manufacturers cut
cloth to tit the orders they Rot
from retailers, and the sudden
rush of re-orders has caught all
hands short.
Most of the out-of-town buyers,
here to order for the Christmas
trade, exnress surprise at the sud
den shortage.
Some report that suppliers can't
give near delivery on any but in
complete assortments of garments.
After a poor spring season, mer
chants were understandably re
luctant to order heavily tor fall.
Whether the merchants mis
ludged the demand or the manu
facturers misjudged the mer
chants , the sudden desire to get
junior into new clothes is hearten
ing to most of the Industry.
Part of the increase in demand
comes from the growing popula
tion of youngsters the war baoies
now crowding Into schoolrooms.
Some of the manufacturers, how
ever, think hopefully that thev are
witnessing a new social trend
