Hank and his boys have zoomed
in popularity mainly through the

record has been No. 1 on the West
ern hit list for the past four
months. Hank's "Waiting in the
Lobby of Your Heart" is currently
ranked No. 3 on the hit list.

making only two appearances in

Hull Remains
Critically III
WASHINGTON I Cordell Hull
remained on the critical list Tues
day at the Bethesda tMd.) Naval
Hospital.
A bulletin said: "Cordell Hull
continues to show slight improve
ment this morning. His condition,
however, remains critical."
The 80-year-old former secre
tary of state entered the hospital
Friday for treatment for cerebral
thrombosis.
There was a false alarm Monday
that Hull had died. President Tru
man received a report, presum
ably from the White House, that
the elder statesman who served in
President Roosevelt's cabinet for
three terms had died.
The President, travelling on a
campaign train enroute to Milwau
kee, got out a statement in Chi
cago saying "the people of the
United States join with me in
mourning the passing of one of
tnis country s greatest statesman,
Cordell Hull."
Not long afterwards, however, it
developed that the report of Hull's
death had been in error.
The President put out a second
statement at Milwaukee in which
he said: "I am most pleased to
near that I was falsely informed
that Cordell Hull bad passed
away."
White House aides said a trans
mission error was responsible lor
the false report.
The aides said that all of the
messages on Hull's condition were
correct as they left the White
House but .that one was garbled
in transmission over the presi
dent's regular message facilities
