Former Local
Man Injured
Paul Lee, formerly district agent
for the Sun Life Insurance Co., with
offices in Klamath Falls, suffered
serious injuries earlv this month
when a horse he was" riding reared
and fell on him as Lee was on va
cation near Seaside.
Lee sustained multiple fractures
of the pelvis and several other
broken bones. He is in the hospital
at Seaside and probably will re
main there for six more weeks.
Lee left Klamath Falls about
two years ago. During the period
he lived here he was prominent in
local civic activities. Lee is now
insurance man for the Securities
investors Co. in Portland.
Lodge Names
New Senator
HARTFORD, Conn, "Wl Gov.
John Lodge Friday appointed Wil
liam A. Purtell, a Republican, to
the Senate vacancy caused by the
death of Sen. Brien McMahon.
Democrat. He will serve until next
January.
Purtell, West Hartford manufac
turer, is the GOP nominee for the
lull six-year term, and will oppose
the Democratic incumbent. Sen.
William Benton, next November in
that race.
A permanent successor to Mc
Mahon. who died July 28, will also
be elected in November to finish
out the final four years of Me
diation's term.
Democrats and Republicans will
hold special conventions next week
to nominate for the short term

first clothing donation through a
Klamath Falls. Ore., soldier.
SFC Gravdon P. Gwvn. son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald C. Gwyn of
38 Fulton street, made the pres
entation. The clothitur was collected bv
Qwvn's sister. Mrs. Joy Ovgard of
Klamath Falls, after he wrote her
about the project.
The orphanage, named "Friend
shin Home." currently is caring for
67 children and soon will raise the
number to 100.
Soldiers of the 2d Division al
ready have donated more than $15.
000 to be used for the welfare of
the children.
Plans have been made for a per
manent building for the Korean
children to live In.
Gwyn. who has been In Korea
since January, is section chief at
the division transportation office.
