overturned on a logging road Wed
nesday, killing Irl Ira Mays, 58,
of Gardiner, a passenger.
The driver. Herman V. Kerth,
Portland, and Richard A. Harmon,
Scottsburg, another passenger,
were uninjured. Kerth lost control
of the truck when air brakes failed
on a hill 36 miles east of Reeds
port. It overturned just as Mays
tried to jump clear. He was
crushed under the truck.
The three were employed by the
Gardiner Lumber Co.

tion and by-laws.
The company also will be re
quired to inform workers the stop-
page was unauthorized and request
them to return. Any employe who
remains out will be fired or dis
ciplined.
The panel said the policy may
be extended by the consent of the
parties involved to other projects
for the atomic energy program in
the vicinity.

the "red tide" that visited the Cal
ifornia coast recently. The tide is
a reddish-brown discoloration of
the sea water caused by the sudden
and luxuriant flowering of millions
of microscopic, free-floating plants

In Mexican waters the red tide
