Snapper
In Ninth
BOISE Ursal (Jack) Snapp,
Merrill, Ore., middleweight, lost
ninth-round technical knockout to
Oarlh Pantcr of Dayton, Ida., In
the 10-round main event at Boise's
Bronco Stadium last night.
Snapp received a Rash on his
forehead in the ninth and the ring
side physician called a halt to the
proceedings.
Until that point the Oregon fight
er had surprised the crowd of 2.000
by demonstrating a left hand that
unnerved the Dayton strong boy.
Snapp kept the left In Panter's
face almost continuously through
the fight, and completely closed
Panter's eye. The Merrill boxer
opened up with both hands In the
seventh and eighth rounds, and in
the ninth, during a fast flurry of
punches In Snapp'a corner, he
came out with a spilt forehead.
Snapp claimed that Panter had
butted him.
The decision awarding Panter
the fight was booed long and loud
by the crowd.
Early In the fight Panter had
Snapp's mid-section, but the latter
stnyed away and kept flicking his
left Into Panter's face, unbalanc
ing the Idaho fighter.
There were no knockdowns.

In addition, Leo was fined 1100
and ordered to stay away from
the press box, radio booth or the
vicinity of the Olant bench In Chi
cago and St. Louis. In a suspension
earlier this year a three-day
chastisement Durocher sat In
the press box and was reported to
have directed his club with hand
signals to his coaches.
The Incident that led to the sus
pension occurred in the ninth Inn
ing of Sunday's first game of a
doubleheader In New York. Boston
won the game, 7-3-
When the Olants were changir
pitcners in tne nintn and Hal Greg
was heading for the mound. Du
rocher rubbed some dirt on the
ball and tossed it to the reliever.
Donatelll, working at second base,
asked to Inspect the ball. Instead,
Durocher flipped it to Al Barllck,
the plate umpire. Words flared be
tween Durocher and Donstelll.
Suddenly DonatelU's right hand
went up In a wide sweep, Indicating
that Leo was out of the game. Then
Leo blew sky-high. It waa onlv bv
the restraining actions of Charlie
urimm, Braves manager, and tne
other umpires that Durocher was
kept from taking a punch at
Donatelll.
Both Leo and Donatelll raised
their fists during the violent argu
ment. Durocher later said he had
no idea of striking Donatelll, that
he wss merely gesticulating.
