the yegg ran out of the store with
a bag of stolen eggs, Tuesday.
But every time he got near his
quarry-splat! the yegg hit him in
the lace with an egg.
The eggs decided the race and
the yegg escaped.
A few hours later, however, po
lice arrested Tarlee Jones near s
railroad track, identified him as
the egg-thrower, and charged him
with petty larceny. ;

Wage Boosts
NEW YORK (Pi The General
Electric Company offered wage in
creases and Insurance benefits to
about 200,000 employes Wednesday.
A spokesman estimated that un
der the wage offer a majority of
the workers would receive total In
crease benefits ranging from 7
to 13 cents an hour.
Lemuel R. Boulware, vice presi
dent in charge of employe rela
tions said in announcing the offer
that it would be effective Sept. 15,
if various unions had accepted it
by that time.
Basically, he said, the wage offer
would grant 2!i per cent In
crease with i 3 !i cent hourly min
imum Increase in addition to a
raise based on Increased cost of
living.
Present average hourly earnings
of General Electric employes have
been estimated at SI. 75.
The company now is negotiating
with several of the larger unions
of its employes.
The two largest are the CIO
Union of Electrical Workers,
claiming 70.000 workers in 60 G.E.
plants: and the Independent United
Electrical, Radio and Machine
Workers of America, which claims
50,000 members in 40 plants.
Meetings between the company
and these two largest unions are
to resume here Wednesday. They
began last week.
