A lour-dav camD for boyi 10
through 14 is to be held next week
by the Klamath YMCA at Diamond
Lake. Boys are to be ready to
leave the downtown YMCA head
quarters Monday, a a.m., and will
return Tnursoay nicnt.
YMCA Director Paul Camnbell Is
organizing the outing with the aid
of John Sandmeyer, the Y's Camp
Committee chairman, and Sam
Ritchie.
Boys will be charged $6 lor the
entire trip. Each boy must provide
eitner a sleeping bag or adequate
oiannew. at snouia also nave, n
possible, a swimming suit, flash
light, warm clothing for evenings
and snoes suitable lor niking.
The camp is to be in the Med
ford YMCA's Diamond Lake camp
quarters.
Two well-known Portland camp
ers and Y workers wm serve as
Campbell's aides at the camp.
Elmer Dewirt, who directs water
front activities and swimming for
Portland area 4-H and Y camps
will come here for the trip. Ac
companying him will be Eugene
Mead, head trails councilor for
YMCA camps in the Portland area.
Also assisting will be Eagle

bell's son, Doug, who has had
eight years experience at the Port
land y camp.

WASHINGTON W Plans to Ir
rigate 8,700 acres of land adjacent
to Chief Joseph Dam will be com
pleted this year, the Bureau of
Reclamation advised the office of
Sen. Cordon (R-Ore.) Thursday.
An aide told a reporter he had
been advised the land, which lies
in the Foster Creek unit, also In
cludes 2,700 acres for which supple
mental Irrigation water would be
provided.
The plans will be submitted to
the new Congress which would
have to approve the project be
fore appropriations could be made.
Tne bureau was authorized In
the closing days of the recent ses
sion to study the feasibility of Ir
rigation In connection with the
Columbia River dam.
The Foster Creek unit, which
has been under Investigation for
some time, would be the first soe-
clfic project upon which Congress
woum oe caned to pass.
Also contemplated Is the recla
mation of 13.700 acres of land in
the greater Wenatchee area. The
Bureau expects to have a report
on this project ready for submis
sion by June, 1954.
