Owls Look 'Loaded'

Last season Oregon Tech -"became
of age" footballicaUy and bad
grid customers talking in terms oi
past-season Bow! games.
They finished with a 6-3 record
a room-for-improvement mark
but it's the way they finished that
counted.
After dropping 6-19 and 6-U de
cisions to Oregon College (Mon
mouth) and Boise Junior College
in games that ringsiders said could
have "gone either way," the Owls
went to work.
In succession came a M-0 clob
bering of Centralis JC, a 27-7 win
over Vanport, a 41-14 win over
Weber College of Utah, probably
their best performance of the year,
and a season-ending 73-0 romp over
Eastern Oregon College in which
the Owls were trying field goals
in the waning moments from ridi
culous angles and distances to hold
down the score.
This year should be even better,
despite the crocodile tears stream
ing from the eyes of Grid Bosses
Rex Hunsaker and Art Kirkland.
Because not only will just three
or four of last season's roster be
missing, but there'll be a flock of
newcomers on deck with bright
high school reputations.
Don Foreman, razzle-dazzle half
back from Portland, will be back.
Foreman was touted last year by
many as a Little All-American can
didate. The swift-moving Negro lad
has bad covetous glances cast his
way from Pacific Coast Conference
schools.
It would take more space than
your writer has been given to list
all the returning lettermen.
Suffice it to say, the problem
confronting Head Coach Hun
saker and Assistant Kirkland is
where they'll use all the pigskin
talent.
The Owls have an ambitious 10
game schedule slated with one open
date they're trying to fill.
The early dope sheet points up
Oregon Tech's best season and
topirawer football entertainment
for its growing rank of fans.
