uncertainties, and It was around
the lowest point of the session at
the close.
Losses ran from fractions to
around J point with declines of a
point or so more numerous than
usual. Oalners were small.
Volume came to an estimated

steady to 50 cents lower and sheep
steady to 60 cents higher.
Most hog sales were at $20.00
to 822.75 on butcher weights and
at (16.00 to $19.25 on sows.
Good to low-prime yearlings and
heifers brought $28.50 to $34.50
while cows topped at $23.00.
Good to choice spring lambs sold
from $29.00 to $30.50 with the top
getting up to $31.00. Ewes brought
$9.00 downward.

stuck exchange, in a drive for new
business, has abandoned a pattern

The Board of Governors of the
exchange voted Thursday to keep
the stork market open from 10
a.m.. In 3:30 p.m.. New York
time Monday throiuih Friday and
in close entirely on Saturday
throughout the year.
That means 30 more minutes ot
tradins dally starting Monday,

Back In 1873 the five-hour day
was adopted, and In 1887 the two-
nour Saturday sessions ucKan.
In 1944 the market started clos.

In San Francisco. Ronald E.
Kaehler. president of the slock ex
chnnge there, said he was "quite
sure" Its direclors would follow the
New York pattern of extended
hours and Saturday nosing.
Kaehler said the membership of
his exchange is "overwhelmingly"
in favor of the chance. Action nuv

week.

on a national survey of stock

The survey underlined the exten
sion of the securities business in

Ogden Couple

PORTLAND ( A man and
his wife held here on a charge of
carrying concealed weapons, were
questioned Fridav about a series
of Ogden. Utah., dental office rob
beries. Chester S. - Frost, 38. and his
wife. Aletha Marie. 31, were .ar
rested Thursday night for a minor
traffic violation. A search of their
car turned up two .23 pistols and
a .22 rifle, a set of burglery tools
and dental equipment. ..
Police said Ogden authorities re
ported serial-numbers found on the
dental equipment matched those of
equipment stolen in Ogden. Frost
also was questioned about a series
of safe-cracking Jobs In Utah. Ida
ho and Wyoming. . .
Detectives said they also found
72 opium tablets and hypodermic
needles In the car. .
