Two Jailed
On Drunk Rap
Two persons arrested i-riaay
night on drunk driving charges
were given 30-day County Jail
sentences this morning on guilty
pleas in District Court.
They were Joseph Howard Ray.
34. Route 3 Box 1215, and Ben
Hughes. 24. 1337 Emerald.
Hughes had the misfortune of
crashing his car Into a Slate Po
lice vehicle which had stopped for
a traffic sign on Riverside. Hughes
said his brakes grabbed and threw
his car broadside into the back
end of the police car.
Both vehicles were damaged.
In addition to the 30-day Jail
sentence, Hughes was sentenced to
an extra 10 days lor having no
operator's license, and assessed
$10 court costs.

Strength In rye apparently was
based on more disturbing reports
on crop conditions In the northwest,
parts of which are suffering from
a drought.

Brings Fine

ed guilty In Municipal Court today
to charges of drunk and disorderly
conduct growing out of a beef at
the Plaza Tavern Friday night.
She was arrested after City Po
lice oflicers were called to quell
a disturbance arising when the
woman reportedly wouldn't leave
the tavern when ordered to do so,
and threatened assault on the bar
tender. Police reported that they had to
forcibly load Mrs. Peterson Into the
waRon and at the lockup she sank
her teeth into the hand of one of
the cops.
She was fined $40.

livestock market Saturday,
A sharp drop In shipping de
mand, which has been a nilu drop
under the hog market lor several
weeks, backgrounded a deoline ot
26 to 60 cents in barrows, gills
and sows this week. Wholesale
trade on fresh pork also was
lower, some cuts sinking $2.00 to

Most steers as' well as heifers
sold mostly steady this week, al
though in a few instances declines
of 25 to 60 cents were recorded.
The top at $36.25, paid for one
load of prime light steers, was a
new low aince November, 1950.
Other sections of the cattle market

panded substantially at all markets
this week. Locally, spring lambs
lost 50 cents to 11.00, old crop fed
Iambs dropped $1.00 to $1.60 while
