Dalles dams were reinstated In the
Army engineers' construction pro
gram by a Senate appropriations
subcommittee Friday.

The subcommittee included three
million dollars for Ice Harbor on

had deleted both projects.
The group also reinstated. Cor
don told a reporter, the full budget
requests for McNarv on the Colum
bia and the Lookout and Detroit
dams in Oregon. . McNary was
given 66 million as compared with
60 million by the House, while
Lookout received 17 ' million and
Detroit. $10,700,000. The latter had
been pared to 16 and 10 million
respectively in the House.
Chief Joseph Dam was approved
for 18,3O0,0OO. roughly halfway
between the budget request of 125,
300,000 and the 11 !i million grant
ed by the House.

and outright distortions" to stall
construction of the . huge Snake
River project on the Idaho-Oregon

the Oregon Senator said the Idaho
Power Co. and other opposition
witnesses advocated "absolutely
contradictory proposals" during
