Demands
Bigger Cut
, By MURRAY ROSE
NEW YORK i A demand for
a 45 per cent share of a title fight
by Jersey Joe Walcott and a soon
due showdown on the proposed
Harry Matthews-Rocky Marclano
bout kept things hopping on the
boxing mart Saturday.
Felix Bocchlcchlo, manager of
the heavyweight champion, said
Friday that his 38-year old glad
iator won't do any title performing
for the International Boxing Club
this September unless the champ
collects "45 per cent of everything,
gate, television and movies."
TWO IDEAS
Promoter Jim Norrls of the IBC
is very much Interested In exhib
iting the champ against either
Matthews, the sensational Seattle
socker, or the hard-hitting, un
beaten Marclano.
At the same time Norrls Is eager
to have Matthews and Marclano
have it out In an elimination bout
in New York late next month.
Matchmaker Al Weill - of the
IBC said "we are earnestly tryine
to make it.'
Either Matthews or Marclano
would be acceptable to Bocch
lcchlo. There was a very good possi
bility that If Walcott fights either
the site won't be New York.
Chicago was considered a likely
spoi.
BURNED
Bocchlcchlo has no license In
New York and Bob Christenberry,
chairman of the stale athletic com
mission made some very uncom
plimentary remarks about Felix la
a recent magazine article.
The article burned Bocchlcchlo
to a crisp and he said then he
would never permit Walcott to fight
in New York.
If Christenberry were to unbend,
Bocchlcchlo might change his
mind.

over last season.
Robert Abel, president of the

total of 193,640 fans clicked through
the gates up to June 1. a gain
of 56,314 over the same period last

He predicted a possible season's
attendance total of one million
fans. Improving gates with improv
ing summer weather plus a
possible nested pennant race
added to club owners' optimism.
Spokane led the league during
the first quarter of the baseball
season with an attendance total of
41.109. Victoria was second with
26.859 and. Vancouver third with
25.314.
Lewlston, this year's new addition
