Down In May
A fall In employment demand
was evident during the month of
May, especially In the retail trade
and service Industries, according to
an announcement from Mgr. Guy
Barker of the Oregon State Em
ployment Office here.
Almost twice as many unem
ployment checks were paid this
May as compared to last May
1337 to 790 though agricultural
placements numbered We this May
to 184 last. No-farming placements
totalled 330 last month, as against
410 a year ago.
Logging and lumbering has also
been considerably below normal for
May, the report states, and the
situation Is expected to remain
for another 30 days.

register with the employment of
