Lassen National Forest June 1 with the removal of eight servicemen's bodies from
the wreckage shown in tlie lower picture above. The arrow in the top picture indi

after reporting by radio to Klamath Falls Municipal Airport that it was proceeding on

seed production business during
World War n when foreign seed
supplies were cut off. Production
has declined with the return of
foreign Imports, but a significant
acreage still Is grown. -
A research program on vege
table seeds was started by the
OSC experiment station in 1942
and continued through 1950. The
new station bulletin, number 512,
details the findings of this re
search. Entitled "Vegetable Seed Pro
duction In Oregon," the bulletin
was written by H. L. Schudel of
the OSC farm crops department.
Copies are now available at county
extension offices or from OSC.

sounding flop Wednesday.
Premier Antolne Pinay, a shy
but determined small businessman,
met the newest Communist attack
head on.
He gave orders to thousands sf
stecl-helmcted policemen and gen
darmes, many armed with tear gas
bombs and masks, to mobilize
throughout the country and let the
Communist-led unionists strike If
they did it oeacelully.
As a result, most of ihe three
million members of the Communist-controlled
General Confedera
tion of Labor (COT) worked at
their normal lobs.
Up to mtd-afternoon Industry and
transportation were normal.
The strike, called by the COT as
a protest at Uie arrest of Jacaues
Duclos, acting Communist party
boss, was the worst failure the
Communists have met west of the
Iron Curtain ln years.
