The Indians muffed one chance
last week by dropping three
straight to the Tyees. And when
Salem took over Memorial Day
Spokane was 5 14 games back of
the leaders.
The Senators swept a Memorial
Day doubleheader Incidentally
ending Victoria's win streak at
nine straight end took Saturday's
game by a 6-6 margin.
Victoria won 6-2 Sunday but the
Senators had a 3-1 edge in the

Grimm, the laughing bov of base
ball with the sobering last name,
took over as manager of the Bos
ton Braves Sunday and let It be
known that "there'll be no Imme
diate changes."
Then, characteristically, ne Im
mediately optioned off two Braves
to Milwaukee, recalled a third
from that Trlple-A Boston farm
club, and named Walker Cooper
as field captain.
The decision by the Boston brass
to replace likeable Tommy Holmes
with the equally popular Grimm
came with startling suddeness
late Saturday. Holmes had been
in the driver's seat less than a
year.
Tommy was stunned at tne news,
but rallied gamely and bowed with
out a murmur to the change or
dered by general manager John
Qulnn and owner Lou Perinl. They
said they would find a place tor
the ex-Boston outfielder in the
Braves' system and explained they
replaced him because they thought
he needed more experience.
Grimm, who left the manager
