strongly opposed a bill to block
strikes in delense-vital plants bv
providing receivers lor industrial
lirms and unions when they are
deadlocked In dispute.
Secretary ui Defense Lovett had
given some qualified sunDort to the
idea of outlawing strikes in essen
tial industries during the emergen
cy when the Labor Department's
attitude was made known at hear
ings by the House Armed Services
committee.
Committee aides read a letter
from Ralph Wright, acting secre
tary of labor, saving the measure
"violates several important cri
teria'-' for labor legislation.
Wright said his letter had been
cleared with the Bureau of the
Budget which voiced "no objec

Lefty Frizsell, who has jumped
into tiie ton spot among Western
recording artists, is to be at the
Armory here tomorrow night. The
Frlszell show includes the West
ern Cherokees, a topflight band,
several vocalists and specialty en
tertainers. Several recording artists are in
the Frizzell outfit. Among them
are Blackie Crawford, director of
the Cherokees, Danny Brown, who
specializes in imitating other West
ern singers, and Johnny Rector,
who wrote and sinRS "Married by
the Bible, Divorced by the Law."
In addition to the vocalists and
the Cherokee band, there is Jimmy
Dennis, pantomiming comedian.

The seniors skipped school Fri
day but It was legal. Friday
was the seniors annual skip day.
They traveled to Lake Tahkenltch
near Reedsport to spend all week
end. From all reports they had

keys." The Senior Prom Is this Friday.
The theme a "Stairway To The
Stars." Music will be furnished
by the "Starlighters." It will be
semi-formal and the public is in
