The entire community wai
shocked and 'saddened to learn of
the death of little Jimmle Neasham
Who drowned near the home of
hi parent's Mr. and Mrs. Hoy
Neasham about 8:30 the morning
of April 3. He and another younger
brother had followed their sister
Mary oul to catch the school bus,
She attended the West Bide grade
school, and they nearly always
walked out the lane with her when
ihe caught the bus.
Immediately after the but left
the little boys started back to
their home, and the other little
boy, Richard, who I 4 year old.
wa ahead. He happened to glance
around In lime to see hi brother.
Jimmle, who wa 0. Just a ho
dropped out of sight in the snow.
He was standing high on snow
bank near where the creek crossed
under the road and the creek wns
running full till underneath the
the snow.
Te dropped from sight and his
brother ran home to tell tils
mother, Mra. Roy Neasham, that
Jimmle was in trouble. She went
back as quickly as possible but
was unable to find any trace of
Jimmle except to see where he
had gone through the snow.
She drove to the neighbors for
help, and then to the West 8lde
store where they phoned for the
disaster car. When she got back
to the scene the men, Mr. Tomlln
and Mr. Schammel. had pulled
the boy out and found between
four and five feet of water beneath
the snow. They worked frantically
over him but were unable to
bring him to life. They applied ar
tificial respiration but he had been
in the water around 45 minutes.
The doctor said he had hit his
head on a concrete . abutment
where the ditch rider measured
the water used during IrrlgaUon.
Apparently he Was knocked un
conscious. When the disaster car
arrived they used the pulmotor but
It was also to no avail.

Strafford conducted the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johnson
