James A. Harper of the Oreeon
State college agricultural experi
ment station was awarded the 1500
national turkey research award for
19S1 by the National Turkey federa
tion at its recent annual meeting
in St. Louis. Mo.
The cash award is nrpsmM
each year by the federation to the
research worker who has made
the outstanding contribution in tur
key research for the year. Har
pers work on turkey management
problems, antibiotic feeding exper
iments and fertility and hatch-abil
ity studies was cited by the award
committee as the nations outstand
ing achievement in the turkey field
Harper is leader of turkey re
search projects for the OSC experi
ment station. He has been largely
responsible for developing the sta
tions current outstanding program
of turkey studies. He is the first
Pacific northwest scientist to win
national recognition for turkey re-
searcn.
